It amazes me more and more how many things run through my imagination. Nothing is more satisfying to me than watching something from my imagination take shape and come to life right in front of my eyes. I jump up and down and giggle with glee. I am eager to show you what is to come soon! Right now I am stuck in "doll mode" and I have so many new faces that will be joining us soon. Pirates, fishers, cowboys and cowgirls, old ladies, old men, and a Royal Family, are all just a few ideas swirling inside my brain! One of the new faces has already been whipped up, and you can see a preview of her below! Sometimes it is just fun to pick up your hook, and see where it takes you. I didn't have anything particular planned when I did just that last night. I saw a few vibrant colors next to my nightstand, and just picked them up and started to crochet thoughtlessly. This was my result. A new design that will be coming soon! I absolutely love it. I have been stuck in bed with a cracked rib and pneumonia, so there isn't a whole lot I can do right now. Thank goodness for hobbies like knitting, crocheting, and drawing. What? You didn't know I drew, too? Well that is because I don't ever show my work. It's actually terrible, but I still enjoy doodling. I'm much more practiced with my hooks and needles. I have never crocheted a buttoned over band before, so that was a whole new concept for me.
Sometimes the best creations come from just lowering your inhibitions and allowing your hooks/needles/yarn to take you on a journey. Man, it is so hard to craft and work on things when the moment your child sees it, they snag it up and run away with it. It can be such an adventure trying to find where they've stashed it from you, too. My youngest, Samantha, is notorious for this. She is such a little stinker. I usually don't even get to weave in the ends before she takes whatever it is I am working on. I'm lucky enough to just cut it away from the skein! I'll tell you what! I'm going to use "kid approved" on all of my items from now on. Hey, don't be jealous you didn't think of it first! I love my children so much and can't imagine what kind of items I could create that they wouldn't run off with. I could probably go outside, find a rock, wrap it to death with the most hideous color of yarn, glue googly eyes onto it, and they would still take it. Hmmm . . . I think an experiment is in order!! How do you keep your kids away from your projects? I am thinking Mommy needs a craft room with a lock. Do you think my husband would go for that? He doesn't have a man cave, so I bet not. |
